Why RELICS exists
RELICS began with something I never expected to wear.
After being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, wearing a glucose monitor became part of my everyday life. It was something I needed, but never something I felt particularly comfortable wearing.
Having spent the past six years designing and making jewellery as my profession, I started thinking about that differently.
What if the medical devices we have to wear didn’t have to feel purely medical?
That idea became RELICS.
RELICS creates jewellery designed around the devices we live with every day — transforming something we have to wear into something that feels considered, personal and worth wearing.
What we make, precisely
A RELICS cover sits over the face of a FreeStyle Libre 2 Plus sensor. It is 925 sterling silver, cast and finished by hand, in four finishes: silver, brushed silver, gold and brushed gold. Pieces are made to order in the United Kingdom.
It is a piece of jewellery and nothing more than that. It does not change how your sensor performs — not its accuracy, not how long it stays on, not how well it sticks. Anyone who tells you a decorative cover improves a regulated medical device is selling you something they cannot support. We sell the way it looks, because that is the part that was missing.
